Location inspired twist on a Tree Brewing favourite brew.
Tree Brewing has always embraced their Okanagan roots and the Red Wood is no exception. For this beer the Kelowna based brewery partnered with a local vinyard Quail’s Gate to age the Hop Head IPA in award winning oak wine barrels. The result is a beer that is unique to Tree’s Limited Edition line. Pouring an opaque amber colour and topped with two fingers of thick and lacing head this beer smells strongly of caramel, hops and of course oak. The wine barrel adds a delicious fruitiness to the beer with an earthy tone at the same time. The aroma is not overly fragrant though with an oak smoothness and the wine just adding a bit of a kick. The flavour has great body with a creaminess to it and defined hop characteristic. The oakiness ads earthy tones while the wine gives a slight deep sharpness to the flavour. Guessing at alcohol content this seems much higher than the low 5% labeled on the bottle but to achieve this body and flavour with such a low alcohol content is a feat in itself. The Red Wood Wine Barrel Aged Ale is a delicious Okanagan brew that is on an island of its own in delicious and unique bc craft beer flavour

Is it the same beer as last year? I could have sworn that one was thirsty beaver on oak barrels.
