Howe Sound Brewing Co. – You’re My Boy Blue Blueberry Wheat Ale Review
The Howe Sound Brewing Company is kicking it “Old School” with the You’re My Boy Blue. This Blueberry Wheat Ale comes in 1l resealable bottles and comes in at 4.5% alcohol. From the rather large bottle the beer flows as a cloudy purple colour that resembles the inside of a ripe blueberry. A finger and a half of pinkish hued head tops the glass as it settles without a trace. A wheat-filled aroma of blueberry with a light jammy sweetness comes through on the nose. The blueberry notes are rather strong and forecast a fairly sweet beer but there is a smoothness to the smell at the same time. The flavour is starts off as a fairly traditional american-styled wheat ale. A sweetness joins the wheat tones as from that sweetness emerges the blueberry flavours. Compared to the aroma the blueberry taste is rather subdued and the jam-like aroma doesn’t translate to the flavour. The colour and aroma forecast something quite strong on the blueberry but the flavour is a rather light and delicious infusion of fruit into a summer session beer.
