Phillips Brewing – Anxiety Ale Belgian Quad Review
The Phillips Brewing Anxiety Ale is a big ans strong Belgian quad that tips the scales at 8.0%. You may recognize the image on the bottle to pose a similarity to a certain Christmas Vacation character and you can likely blame the dog for the tree catching fire. Pouring this Belgian brew it is a deep copper colour with two fingers of lightly lacing head. The aroma is malt-forward with a candi-sugar sweetness and mild notes of earthy dried fruit. The Belgian Yeast tones are also subtle but add to the overall experience of the Anxiety Ale’s aroma. Tasting the beer it is lightly creamy with a malty-sweet flavour. The earthy-dried fruit flavours come through with modest intensity making a caramel sweetness and the malt character the main players. This is not the strongest of Belgian Quads which makes it a bit lighter than typical and a bit easier to go down. That said, the flavour could be a bit more intense to liven up this seasonal brew.
