Barkerville Brewing Co. – High Stakes Imperial IPA Review
Barkerville Brewing has brewed their first Imperial IPA and it is appropriately called the High Stakes. As number 16 in their brewing lineup this beer is 8.0% alcohol and is brewed with a ton of Cascade Hops. Pouring from the bomber bottle this beer is light-amber in colour and has three fingers of dense and lacing head. The aroma consists of grapefruit, citrus and resinous pine character. This is a classic BC smelling Imperial IPA. Taking a sip of the beer the pine character hits hard. Masking some of the citrus character in a bitter and resinous manner, this is a hop kick to the face. That isn’t to say this is a bad thing either. BC hop heads rejoice around this tribute to the classic flavours that made BC IPAs so popular. This brew takes it up a notch with a high alcohol, big northwest hop flavour beer.

I love piney IPAs. Where did you buy this? I haven’t seen Barkerville Brewing at my local store.
