Phillips Brewing Lumberjacked Fresh Hop Pale Ale Review Phillips Brewing Co. – Lumberjacked Fresh Hop Pale Ale Review

Using Lumberjack hops, Phillips has brewed up a fresh hop pale ale working with the BC Hop Company. This beer comes in at 5.6% alcohol and pours a colour of clear amber with two fingers of lacing head. The aroma is resinous with a piney citrus character melded with fresh cut grass. The fresh hop character comes through with great strength and intensity in this once-a-year brew. Tasting the beer the hop tones too come through in spades. There is a lightly toasted malt character that props up the beer and gives body but the fresh hop grassy-pine tones take charge and give a smooth but intense hop character without any overpowering bitterness. For those that are in the fresh hop beers for the grassy, pine character that they can embark, this is a great example of the craftsmanship and flavour that can come from freshly harvested BC hops.
