Ultimate BC Craft Beverage Map

Welcome to BC’s most thorough hand-curated map & listing of craft breweries, cideries and distilleries. This map separates Breweries from Brewpubs and categorizes things like Production Breweries and Brewery Taps. It attempts to track all new BC breweries on the horizon, as well as those that have closed. It also includes a dozen other categories around BC craft, such as Taphouses, Bottle Shops, Homebrew Shops, Clubs & Societies, Events & Festivals, Agricultural, Tours, Education, Media and other industry organizations. With over 600 entries, this is a map for the uber geeks of #BCCraftBeer.

Official BC Govt. Beer, Cider & Spirits Creators, Alphabetical

Prefer an alphabetical listing of just active breweries and cideries? This map was created by importing data from the All Licensed Establishments in B.C. spreadsheet provided by the BC Liquor & Cannabis Regulation Branch.

At the beginning of 2020, there were over 200 breweries, almost 100 distilleries, and 50 cideries or meaderies actively licenced by the BC government.

This blast from the recent past illustrates the two main waves of growth in the craft brewing era across much of North America. After the “ripple” caused by 1980s pioneers around 1984 came a big wave in the mid-1990s peaking in 1997, followed by a stagnant  plateau phase in the 2000s. Second wave: the 2010s explosion, which was only revving up at this point. See What’s Brewing Vol. 30 No. 2, Summer 2020

What can we do to make growler filling stations available in every community (either BC Liquor Stores, Cold Beer & Wine or Pubs)? Or do micro/craft brewers want to make people come in their doors to get a refill?

Incidentally, the Saison from Category 12 is well worth sampling. I did not need to preserve the flavour with the fancy gadget – it disappeared in one day somehow….

          Well, I wouldn’t say it’s that weird; it’s indicative of 2 things:

          1) How fast things can change in a month
          2) Maybe he was more comfortable having you over than a guy taking photos for a printed magazine. :)

We met at Kettle River because he wasn’t ready for me to come by.

The description ‘gypsy brewer’ was my wording; I should probably retract that because it gives the wrong impression. Let me change that to “he’s done some collaboration”.

for those who missed it (or hadn’t heard of it); there was a great 5-day craft brewery / biking event in Kamloops last week > called Brewloops (check out the web page). I was fortunate to volunteer at the Friday night street party – what a blast. 3 bands, think 14 brewerys; multiple food trucks, ferris wheel, hundreds of attendees and for about 100 bikers, it was a great way to end a downtown pub crawl.

see you next year – cheers

HI Mike, yeah.. they’re producing WORT from 4, 20 gallon man ton kettles which doesn’t require a liquor license, as there is no fermentation process. wort… is crated with water with the false bottom, top of the grains to rinse out as much of the sugary extract as possible to create the extract “wort”. They’re actively selling to other brewers while they wait for licensing. Since they’re creating a product, with a store front and own their own hops farm (fraservalleyhopfarms.com) , i considered them active and interesting… but might not be ready for the official list right now?

not sure if you are still updating this list – but there are now 4 breweries in Nelson. Backroads Brewing Company and Savoy Brewery are both up and running on Baker Street to go with the existing Nelson Brewing and Torchlight

    Hey people,

This page is back in business.

Since June 2012, Beer Me BC provided a map and listing of BC craft breweries. From late 2017 to the end of 2019, the listing was not maintained or updated as resources like the BC Ale Trail Brewery Listing became available.

However, it’s back as of 2020, and more comprehensive than ever. Also, it has lists of things nobody else has done yet, like a map with well over 500 entries for the uber geeks of #BCCraftBeer. Also, the latest BC Government beverage manufacturer listings imported in map form, and the authoritative list of other resources for when you’re looking for info on BC Craft Beer, Cider or Spirits.
